Charlie St. Cloud

Well the name make you think it's about something related to clouds. Well was I surely wrong. The movie is about a guy named Charlie who is amazing sailor and is known for wining races and was the captain of his high school sailor team. He gets a scholarship to Stanford for sailor. He lives with his young brother and is mom who works as a nurse and is always going to work to provide for her family. One night when his mom's away Charlie has to babysitter his brother he decide to go to a party and leave his brother home alone but his brother finds out and Charlie might take him to his brother friend's home to watch the remain of a baseball game but on the way something goes terribly wrong. Charlie car his hit by a drunk driver who kills his brother. But before his brother died, Charlie promise that after work he would play baseball with his brother to help him train.

5 years goes by. We find out that Charlie quiet sailing after his brother death, he never went to Stanford and he works at the graveyard and lives in a little shack near by. His two best friends left him after high school to join the US Army and both died in battle. Charlie falls in love with a former classmate Tess Carroll who's a famous sailor who plans to go on a 6 month journey around the United States. Charlie also continues playing ball with his died brother.

I give this movie a 5 because I felt that they was no point to this movie and they was very strange scene in the movie that made me not feel well. But this movie had some things go for it like how a promise between brotherhoods can be more important than anything in this world. Plus it stars teen heartthrob Zac Efron and hot new Canadian star Amanda Crew as his love Interest.
If you love romantic movie than this is your type of movie and it's could also been a depressing movie. It made me tear up a little bit.
Well this has been Casey out.
I hoped your enjoy this review.

Angels and Demons

Science and Religion are two complex sets of ideas. In Angels and Demons, directed by Ron Howard, they are seen together.

There are troubles in the Vatican City, while the Roman Catholic Church mourns the death of the Pope. They have a larger problem that could jeopardize their holy city. The Illuminati, a group which counteracts the Church, kidnaps four Cardinals who would be likely candidates to be elected future pope. Also they managed to steal a vial of dangerous antimatter from the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN). This antimatter is so powerful it could wipe out an entire metropolitan. The Vatican, now temporarily controlled by Camerlengo Patrick McKenna (Ewan McGregor), quickly summons Professor Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks), a symbolist from Harvard University and Dr. Vittoria Vetra (Ayelet Zurer) from CERN to assist them in finding the missing Cardinals and stop the Illuminati from destroying the Vatican.

I like how this movie shows places which are hundreds of years old. This movie is set in mainly in the Vatican City and Rome. That area is extremely old and there is a rich history in its buildings you see that throughout the movie. You see many old sculptures and paintings in various churches and other buildings throughout the film.

The Vatican gave Angels and Demons positive reviews. The Catholic Church usually is critical about movies on the topic of the church. The film was banned in Samoa because it was “critical of the Catholic Church”.

I enjoyed this film, you don’t see anything coming. Everything just sort of happens and it’s unexpected. I would recommend this movie to anyone, if you’re a Catholic I don’t necessarily believe this movie will offend you but some people believe it does so maybe ask some fellow Catholics who’ve seen the movie.

Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief

After finishing watching the movie, I have quite mixed feelings over it. I was excited to go see it in theatres but never got the chance, so when I had the chance to see it today, I jumped on the opportunity.

The Lightning Thief deals a lot with Greek gods and mythology. The story is about Percy Jackson, played by Logan Lerman (Gamer, The Number 23). At the beginning of the movie, Zeus, the lightning god, and Poseidon, the god of the sea, are seen talking and Zeus demands his lightning bolt back, as someone has stolen it. Both gods come to the realization that it was Poseidon’s son, Percy, so Zeus gives Poseidon two weeks to get the bolt back to him or there will be a huge war amongst the gods.

This is where Percy' character dominates the movie. He isn't aware of his power to control water, nor is he aware that his best friend, Grover, played by Brandon T Jackson (Tropic Thunder) is sent to protect him because he is the son of a god. Fearing Percy's life is in danger, Grover forces Percy and his mom to a special camp. Along the way, Percy's mom is kidnapped by a Hades (brother of Poseidon and Zeus, ruler of the underworld), and is told that Percy will only get his mom back unless he gets the powerful lightning bolt.
In the camp are all the human children that the gods had on earth. Each has its own power. Percy Befriends Annabeth, daughter of Athena, played by Alexandra Daddario ( All My Children). What follows is a journey set out with Percy, Grover and Annabeth to get his mom back.

There are a few problems I have with this movie. The first is the dialogue. Pretty much every word uttered by Percy is a cliché. You've heard it all a thousand times. Everything that you would expect him to say, he says. This doesn’t make for an interesting movie. The second is the casting of Percy and Annabeth. Grover was casted right but acted poorly. I kept waiting for Brandon T Jackson to be as funny as he was in Tropic Thunder but he wasn’t. Percy and Annabeth were horribly casted. Maybe it was the lines they had, I don’t know but I didn’t think they were that great. I don’t know how they messed that up considering the supporting cast was great. (Sean Bean, Pierce Brosnan, Steve Coogan, Rosario Dawson, Catherine Keener, Uma Thurman, Joe Pantoliano)

All this being said, I would slightly recommend this movie. The story is completely original. It’s based on a series of books. Ever since Harry Potter hit the big screen, movies have been trying to capture the same audience. First it was Chronicles of Narnia, and now this. This movie is definitely not better then Harry Potter. It’s about on the same level as Narnia. This has a more original story but poor script and Narnia is the opposite. Ironically it has the same director as a few of the Potter movies and as the Home Alone series. See this movie in case of a sequel. It will keep you interested but won't dazzle.

The Mighty Ducks

If you love hockey or just a fan, this is a pefect movie for that or a stay home night.Even though it's a kids movie, it still can be enjoyed by adults and teenegers.

The movie is about hockey team who really sucks and lose every game till their new coach, Gordon Bombay, who used to play hockey till he lost the champship game on a Penalty shot and his coach was angry at him cause he loved win so much.Mr Bombay, played by Emilio Estevez (who is popular actor as being part of the brat pack which he's been in the The Breakfast Club and ST Elmo's Fire and the Outsiders). Is a extreme poplar laywer till he suspend cause he was caught on DUI too many times.

Now he is forced to coach a pee wee division 5 team and lead them to the champship game but must go through the best team in the league, the Hawks.Gordon used to play for the Hawks as a kid and that the team he missed the shot with. The Hawks are coached by the same coach that Bombay played for. In his first game, he faces his former coach and loses by a score of 12-0 and The Hawks best player Adam Banks get a Hawk record for most goals in a game. The team has no hockey equipment,so Bombay goes to his boss, Mr. Gerald Ducksworth to sponser the team and gives Bombay at least 10 thosands doallars for hockey equipment for the team and jersey with the name Ducks because they don't have a team name before. Bombay reconnected with his former friend Hans who helped Bombay when he was younger and helpd him deal with his father passing. Now Hans works at the hockey shop where the team the Ducks buys all their hockey equipment. There's a relationship between Bombay and his player's mom Charlie Conway who is played by a young Joshua Jackson(Dawson creek and Fringe,Skulls and ETC).

Bombay finds out that the line where player lives has changed and the Ducks get the Hawks best player, Adam Banks who is hated by all the Ducks cause he played for the Hawks. The team makes it to the champship game vs the hawks but before that they get to practice at the rink where the NHL team, Minnesota North Stars, they meet North Stars players, Basil McRae and one of my favorite hockey players, Michael Modano. then at night they see the North Stars play. The end of the movie is kinda like the begining of the movie as it comes down to a penalty shot .

I give this movie an 8 out of 10. They some memorble quotes. Some quotes like the following
Gordon Bombay: Did you really Quack at the Principal?
Ducks: Yeah.
Gordon Bombay: Are we Ducks or what?
or the following

Goldberg: My mother is not gonna approve of this, Coach! She wants me to live to be Bar Mitzvah'd!
Gordon Bombay: This is your Bar Mitzvah, Goldberg. Today, you become a man.
Goldberg: No. I think you've got the ceremonies mixed up. This is more like a CIRCUMCISION.
well this has been Casey...Out

The Rocket

Anyone who is a hockey fan or a Montrealer, you know who Maurice Richard was. Maurice “The Rocket” Richard will forever be known as one of the greatest player to lace up a pair of skates. Maurice Richard staring Roy Dupuis depicts the life of Richard. Richard grew up during the Duplessis Era and the Great Depression. As a teenager Richard was forced to drop out of school and went to work in a in a factory, this was as a result of Richard’s family requiring extra income. Despite working in a factory after work it was off to the rink. In the beginning film it depicts the early struggles of Richard’s life with events such as his marriage to his lover, Lucille Norchet, played by Julie Le Breton.

Throughout out the movie Richard struggles with injuries, but unites a city divided by languages with numerous achievements. You see Richard's famous 500th goal, his numerous cup wins and his journey to scoring 50 goals in 50 games

I liked this movie I like how they made use of past and present NHL players such as Mike Ricci who played Elmer Lach, Sean Avery who played Bob Dill, Ian Laperrière who played Bernie “Boom Boom” Geoffrion and of course Vincent Lacavalier who played the great Jean Béliveau.

This movie is a great movie which won 12 awards . It’s a good movie with a great use of Montreal’s two languages. I should point out if you don’t know French well, make sure to have subtitles on. I would recommend this movie to anyone who shares the love for the wonderful game of hockey and a must see for every fan of the Canadians.

Thanks for reading.
Let us know what you think.

Julie and Julia

So I just finished watching Julie and Julia and personally, unless you like cooking, I wouldn't really recommend you see this.

The movie has two alternating storyline. The first is about Julia Child, played by Meryl Streep (Mamma Mia!, the Devil Wears Prada, River Wild). In this storyline, you see how the world famous French chef became a chef. In the other storyline, you see Julie Powell, played by Amy Adams (Leap Year, Enchanted). Julie starts a blog where she will document her experiences while trying to cook the whole Julia Child cook book.

Personally, I thought this movie was kind of boring. There was absolutely no drama whatsoever. Each scene was dull and throughout the movie, I felt as though the plot wasn't advancing quick enough. That being said, the casting was great. Both Streep and Adams were perfect fit, but sometimes Streep's accent in the movie was annoying.

I know it's based on a true story so you can't really change much but here’s what I would have done. Set the movie in 2003, a year before Child died. Then have the Adams character get so caught up in cooking, that her husband leaves her and then she sets out to meet Child. Maybe that’s just me. Either way, don't see this movie.

Quick Note. this is the same director who did Sleepless in Seattle and When Harry Met Sally. Both are far and away better then this.

Salt

Salt was one of my most anticipated movies since i saw the trailer. I finally saw it and although it wasn't as great as I thought, it is definitely still worth seeing.

The Movie is about the title character, Evelyn Salt, played by Angelina Jolie (Changeling, Wanted, Tomb Raider, Mr. & Mrs. Smith. At the beginning of the movie, Salt is getting ready to finish work for the day as a CIA agent, when she is approached about a recent Russian defector who had just walked in to the building and is willing to share details about an assassination attempt on the visiting Russian President. Salt, alongside partner Ted Winter, played by Liev Schreiber (Defiance, Kate and Leopold, The Hurricane) go back to interrogate the Russian. Salt interviews him and he reveals to them about a secret Russian plan where they used to take American kids, instill Russian beliefs in them, teach them to want to work in U.S government offices, and then bring them back to the USA where they will grow up and wait for the time when they will be needed. The last thing the Russian reveals is that Evelyn Salt is the Russian spy who is supposed to kill the Russian president.

After that, while attempting to transport him, he escapes, and in all that confusion, Salt escapes too. What follows is a cat and mouse game between Salt, Winter and Peabody, another CIA agent played by Chiwetel Ejiofor( 2010, American Gangster and Red Dust)with Peabodoy and Winter trying to catch Salt. Salt keeps professing her innocence but no one fully believes her

If you like spy movies or action movies, you will probably like this movie as well. This movie is more about all the action sequences and the twisted plot then it is about the dialogue. I liked the movie because it makes you think. Throughout the movie you are wondering if everyone is who they say they are. There are flashbacks scenes that I felt were sometimes unnecessary and sometimes messed with the flow of the movie but that didn’t ruin it.

Jolie's performance is clearly the best of the movie with Chiwetel Ejiofor's in second. She was the best possible female lead for this movie. This the second time Jolie has worked with this director, Phillip Noyce. The previous time was on The Bone Collector. This director has also made Clear and Present Danger, and Patriot Games. In my Opinion, This movie is not as good as Patriot Games, but it is better then his other movies I've seen

The movie has a lot of twists and turns and even more crazy stunts. I have heard that the movie and character Salt, is like the female version of Jason Bourne and the Bourne series. Stop yourself now before you start thinking that this movie is as good. The Bourne films are great and this is an above average spy movie. This movie is a lot less believable. The stunts are good but clearly sometimes over the top. This movie is definitely not realistic or believable in any way but that being said, you should DEFINATELY go see it. It clearly is biggest movie that opened this weekend. There seems to be sequels coming so you don't want to miss out on this one.
